Visit to Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple-

After that i went to Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, the best thing about the city is that you can go to any street and it will take you to the Meenakshi Amman Temple. it is very big temples having its gates in all 4 direction. the feeling inside temple is very peaceful. there are free darshan queue and paid and as well, but not much difference in time taken for darshan. also it depends on number of devotees on that particular day.

You need to reserve at least 4 hours to see full Meenakshi Temple, temple is dedicated to Parvati, known as meenakshi and Shiva, here known as Sundareswarar. People came here to worship mata parvati and shiva temple inside. Temple itself give very peaceful feeling to be inside it. there is a lake in the center of the temple gives a beautiful look to temple.  temples built architecture is superb. I have been to many south indian temples but Meenakshi Amman Temple is biggest in all of theme. Here are some of photos that I had captured.

Other Famous Temples apart from Meenakshi Amman Temple-

In Madurai there is a temple in every street like ujjain, there are 3-4 other big and old temples inside madurai which one should visit to offer prayers and see an ancient architecture that is wonderful. In Thiruparankundram there is a temple of Ganesha in the name of Murugan which is also quite famous so i also went to Arulmigu Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple which is around 10 KM outside Madurai buses are available from madurai bus stand. temple is worth to visit and having significant religious attachment. you should consider going to this temple. temple is built with merged rock of hill. it is also ancient temple and marvel of architecture. its very peaceful inside the temple. here is some of the pictures i have captured here.

Best Madurai Food and culture-

Apart from Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai is famous for its food and culture. i was also roaming around madurai and tested madurai’s famous idle with different types of chutney with it, and then there is a Madurai famous jigarthanda which is delicious, there is also one sweet Halwa which is also famous.

Trekking Planning –

I was at planning to for a short one day solo trek near Bangalore so i was searching some places near by in google maps and suddenly i seen Rayakottai fort and started planning to go for fort solo trekking, there is a temple also on the top so i thought its good to go and it was also navratri time so planned this on Sunday by train as connectivity is good.

Trekking day –

I wake up early, as train was at 7 AM and i like home food, so prepared food and packed my tiffin box for having it on very calm place like a hill top. i reached railway station 10 minute before train time and took general ticket to Rayakottai from Byappanahalli station as it was a fast passenger train. Train was not much crowded and almost all people were local in train form nearby places. i reached Rayakottai at around 9:30 AM.

Way to fort was not that much difficult to found but had to ask 3-4 times to reach till starting point of trek and also using google maps. Condition of entry board was very bad, no maintenance of place on down the hill at starting point.

Trekking Difficulty- Moderate

So finally I started trekking up the hill, sometime it is straight up and sometime as usual walk. overall it was a moderate trek. midway i found some monkeys setting on top of big rocks. while trekking there was no one there on hill and i was the only one. without fearing about anything and anyone i was continued my trekking and reached a base hill top from there an awesome view of Rayakottai was visible as seen in the photo below.

There was a beautiful stone Murthi of Hanumaan  on the way to uphill and it was just amazing to see the rock structure out there and view from that place to around.

after going forward from here there are two ways to go, one is to go left and other one is to go right, left goes to temple in the lower hill of fort and right one goes to fort.

i tool left path first and went till temple, it is in small cave and was closed that time, also in temple no one was there apart from some monkeys. i clicked some photos there, here are some of the pics

Turning Point of Trek-

After taking some time here, i again started going back till the path to right side of the hill that is going towards the fort. in between there is greenery and some nice to see rock structure to capture some cool pictures.

As there was no one around and i was alone on this big hill, i started thinking in other way that why on Sunday no one came here to visit this cool place. any way i keep moving forward, in the way there are some stunning view of all around places and far away i can see there was one big dam was there looking good but too far to see.

It was a cave like way up to the fort that scares if no was there with you and there is a wind sound that was cool but scary in that lonely place. as usual i was also got scared and started thinking to go back to Rayakottai. i clicked some pics and spent some time there before the starting gate of the fort and then started down trek to base.

Over all it is very cool trek to go if you are going in groups for hangouts and trekking as there will be no one on top, also sometime not looks quiet good for a total lonely place for solo trekking.
